Valentine's Day Wedding Theme Color Palette

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, some of you might be celebrating a Valentine's Day Wedding Theme or possibly getting engaged. I have chosen some color palettes to give you a head start on choosing you wedding colors. I was able to accomplish this using a wonderful tool provided by Sherwin Williams called Chipit. I had introduced this tool before in a previous post labeled, Awesome D.I.Y. Tools. I thought it would be neat to highlight it once again...and perhaps many more times for other color palette ideas since I think its such an awesome tool.

Valentine's Theme Wedding: Finds through Etsy

Thought it would be nice to post a couple of Valentine inspired wedding accessories that I have came across through Etsy. I love this site. It's amazing the things people come up with. Hope you like my quick selection.

Any favorites or least favorites? I thought the hand holding the heart was a little creepy but interesting. But my favorite is the ring bearer's pillow with the little flowers shaped into a heart. I know it's simple but it's cute.

DIY No Sew Pillow

I'm excited to share this post with you because it's my  First DIY tutorial...that I actually made. Yay. I'm in the process of coming up with a design for our bedroom and I wanted to make some pillows. So I received some nice sturdy pillows from my neighbor who was cleaning out her attic and I decided to dress them up. I didn't want to go through the hassle of sewing not to mention I don't have a sewing machine:)  So I came up with this quick, easy and affordable DIY No Sew pillow!
I know you might be thinking what does this have to do with wedding planning? I figured if you are going to have your ring bearer holding a pillow, why not have a fancy and cheap one? The best part is that you can  reuse it in your bedroom after the wedding.

Materials Needed:

1. Fabric: I used a curtain I got on sale at Target for less than $2.00.
2. Fabric for flowers: I trimmed out the excess from another project I had going on.
3. Pillow: Free
4. Safety Pins:
5. Rubberband: I used a hair tie
6. Hot glue gun
7. Scissors

Total for the No Sew Pillow Project: under $2.00
I already had the other materials not to mention the free pillow!

1. Get all your material..sorry I didn't take a picture of all the material but the list is above.

2. Cut the fabric with enough length to cover the pillow half way, length wise. Width wise cut about an extra inch or two. ( Sorry for the vague measurements, it would depend on the size of your pillow)

3. Cover half the pillow length wise.

4. Cover the other half length wise.

5. Fold one corner across the pillow diagonally.

6. Pinch the fabric one fold at a time.

7. This is what it should look like when are done with one side.

8. Tie all the folds together, leaving extra space for the other side.

9. Create the same folds on the other side and tie together.

10. This is what it should look like...you're almost done!

11. With the material for the flowers, cut the fabric into strips. Create your center by twisting the fabric and continuing to twist the fabric as you go. Twist and Turn.
Note: For a bigger flower twist loosely.
For a smaller flower twist tightly.

11. This is what it should look like.

12. Once you have your flowers you can start pinning them onto the fabric. Pin from underneath so the pin is not exposed.

13. One down, two more to go...you are done!

Looks complicated but its super easy. Give it a try and let me know how it turned out.

So what do you think of my First DIY tutorial?

Awesome D.I.Y tools

Two new discoveries I made this week. Don't know which one to mention first because they are both so awesome. Okay, first is this awesome website that provides vintage graphics and crafts.  You can print these images for your wedding essentials or transfer them onto totes, towels, pillows, etc. and give them as gifts. Head on over to Graphics Fairy, and check them out.

Through this site I also found my next inspiration. Apparently, Sherwin Williams has a new tool called letschipit , where you can upload an image and they will match it with paint chips. Light bulb went on, and I thought this tool would be so helpful to all the brides stuck on choosing a color palette for their wedding. Its so easy and amazing! Simply go to letschipit. Choose to upload an image or enter image url. Once you have an image this tool will give you a couple color options. I think this tool did an awesome job with this beautiful peonies bouquet.  What do you think?

The Look for Less: Drew Barrymore Wedding

For those of you who are a fan of Drew Barrymore, this post is just for you:) I tried to compile an inspiration board based on some photos I found on the web. Being that the wedding was very private and intimate there weren't many photos available. So based on what I found it seems as though the wedding was very simple yet girly chic. Drew wore a Chanel embroidered dress, she walked down the aisle holding a bouquet of pinks and ivory  flowers, her hair pulled back and accessoried with a tiara. I'll be honest I'm not a fan of her dress or her look...wow...really? I think she could of done better...but pretty dress or not, I must admit she looks really happy and that's all that matters.
Tell me what you think about Drew's Wedding Look for Less, from Drew's wedding dress to Drew's wedding decor.

Though I think the reason they had these umbrellas was for privacy not for decor, I still made it part of the look just in case anyone considered having these. Or you can use white parasols for some guests or the bridal party.
